Dear Fellow Parishioners:
What a glorious year it has been at Christ Church Parish Kensington! We are so very blessed to be members of such a tremendous, giving, deeply spiritual community. Thank you for your many contributions to Christ Church Parish Kensington—your gifts of time, friendship, financial support, community engagement, and prayer and reflection. We are all Alive with Joy!
Alive with Joy! is the perfect theme for this year’s stewardship campaign. We invite you now to reflect on your pledge commitment and ask you to give as generously as possible. We have enclosed campaign materials for your review and a pledge card. You can make your pledge online, drop your pledge envelope in the collection basket at worship services, or send it to the office.
All of us at Christ Church Parish Kensington witness daily the blessed leadership and inspiration of our Rector, the wonderful guest preachers, Ann’s warm oversight of the children’s ministries, and the beauty of music that Teddy and the choir have brought to the music ministry. As demonstrated so beautifully on Labor Day, Christ Church is a visible, contributory member of the Kensington community.
It is incumbent upon us to provide the financial support for our spiritual house. The Alive with Joy! campaign will be short, just six weeks, launching at the September 25th services and culminating with a fun “Novemberfest” celebration on November 13th.
Help us reach our goals within that short timeframe, to allow our Rector and the vestry ample time to create a budget that reflects our parish’s needs and covers all expenses in our next fiscal year. Our goal is to get all pledges in by the campaign’s end date, and not have to make calls to parishioners.
Christ Church is comprised of many longstanding members, new members and families blessing our services and our community. For so many of us, this is a second home, a haven where we benefit from deep spiritual inspiration, powerful exchanges with our Rector and fellows members, the ministries and community outreach, and camaraderie and fun. Alive with Joy! truly exemplifies the mood that permeates all corners and programs of our parish.
We are so very blessed to share this community with you. We hope you feel likewise, and will give generously to this year’s Alive with Joy campaign.
With deep appreciation,
Brad & Mariana

A Letter from Our Rector
We are Alive with Joy!
Dear Christ Church Family,
The Spirit is alive and moving at Christ Church! Together, we are incubating ideas, renewing traditions, invigorating ministries. Week by week, new individuals and families are joining us in our journey of exploration and discipleship. Energy abounds!
This Sunday, September 25, we embark on a six-week annual giving campaign continuing to explore being Alive with Joy: give thanks, create, celebrate! It is a time to give thanks to God for the abundance in our lives, to invest in creative possibilities for mission, and to celebrate this loving community that nurtures us and challenges us to live courageously and compassionately.
Over the coming weeks, I ask you to prayerfully consider your financial commitment to Christ Church. Even as I anticipate an incredibly vibrant future together, I look back at a year of exciting developments. Here are just a few.
With Dr. Teddy Guerrant’s gifted leadership, the music program has come alive. The choir has doubled in size and a new concert series has begun.
The Youth Program had a great mission trip to Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota this past summer, and continues with weekly Sunday morning bible study and reflection, and monthly service and fun activities with our new Youth Minister, Madison Chase.
Outreach continues to flourish with our partnership with Arcola Elementary and local non-profits; including this past June a fabulous church-wide participation in creating comfort cases for children in foster care.
We have begun to explore ways to express our commitment as followers of Jesus to live into our identity as peacemakers and doers of justice in the midst of the violence that is so prevalent in our collective lives. Now more than ever, our message of the transformational power of the love of Christ and welcome for all – no exceptions – is essential.
Our ministries are empowered by the generosity of all our members. On Sunday, please pick up a packet of information, which includes a 2017 pledge commitment card. I hope that each of you will make as generous a gift as you can to support Christ Church as together we deepen our walk of faith and widen our presence in the community.
I’m so grateful to be in community with you!
Blessings and love,
The Rev. Emily J. Guthrie
