How you made a difference in 2018

In 2018, the Outreach Committee asked the parish to help support various charities that we hoped the parish would be passionate about.  And you were! Here’s how you made a difference in many lives in 2018.

ARCOLA ELEMENTARY

V      Donated supplies for the summer camp program at Arcola that hosted 180 low-income children.

V      Donated 60 backpacks filled with school supplies for children identified by Arcola oas having no means to afford supplies.

V      Donated children’s books for children to take home.

V      Donated 62 Thanksgiving Food Bags to families identified as needing help during the Thanksgiving break.

V      Donated 60 “Angel Tree” gifts to families identified as not having the means to give their children a Christmas gift.

V      Donated 55 Christmas Break Food Bags to families identified as needing help during the Christmas break.

V      Provided snacks every month for low income children identified by Arcola in need of meals.*

 

BETHESDA CARES

 

V      24 CCPK families make sandwiches for Bethesda Cares luncheon program

the first two Saturdays of each month.  This program has been in place at Christ Church for over 20 years.

V      Donated over 100 pairs of socks for the homeless.

V      Donate toiletries for the homeless.

V      Donated over 20 cases of water for the homeless.

 

CAMP KESEM

 

Raised $1,011 to buy needed supplies for Camp Kesem, a camp that supports children through and beyond their parents’ cancer.

 

COMFORT CASES

 

Packed and donated over 75 Comfort Cases for children going into the Montgomery County Foster Care system.

 

EPISCOPAL RELIEF & DEVELOPMENT (ERD)

 

Donated over $2,462 to ERD to support their relief efforts throughout the world.

HEIFER INTERNATIONL

 

Donated $360.00 to HEIFER for their Pass the Gift Program.

 

HOMELESS IN ZIP CODE 20895

 

Provided Safeway and Giant cards to the CCPK Office to give out to people in need who come to our doors.*

 

KENYA NIGHT

 

Opened our doors for our 2nd Annual Kenya Night of Culture where we raised over $5,104 for a greenhouse for the Nyumbani Village programs for children affected by Aids and their caregivers.

 

REBUILDING TOGETHER:

 

Provided $1,720 to co-sponsor a house where 40 CCPK volunteers joined volunteers from Revere Bank to renovate a group home for disabled adults, so it will be a safe and warm place to live.*

 

SAMARITAN MINISTRY

 

     V Helped sponsor and many parishioners walked for the Homeless Walk sponsored

         by Samaritan Ministry.

     V  Donated toiletries for the clients of Samaritan Ministry.

     V  Several parishioners also volunteer/work for Samaritan Ministry.
